A Probabilistic Scheme for Reducing the Packet Loss in Mobile IPv6

چکیده
Mobile IPv6 allows a Mobile Node to remain reachable by a Correspondent Node while roaming from one network to another network. In Mobile IPv6, a Mobile Node directly updates its current location information to a Correspondent Node using a route optimization method. Route optimization helps to culminate the packet delay incurred due to suboptimal route traversed by the packets from a Correspondent Node to a Mobile Node in Mobile IPv4. However, it introduces packet losses during Mobile Node's transition from one network to another network. This packet loss increases as the mobility of the node increases. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic scheme to reduce this packet loss. Our solution is based on the Mobile Node's mobility prediction at the Correspondent Node and a buffering mechanism at the Home Agent. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of our scheme in case of reducing the packet loss problem besetting the Mobile IPv6.

Wireless Sensor Nodes (SNs), the key elements for building Internet of Things (IOT) have been deployed widely in order to get and transmit information over the internet. IPv6 over low power personal area network (6LoWPAN) enabled their connectivity with IPV6 networks. 6LoWPAN has mobility and it can find an extensive application space only if provides mobility support efficiently. Existing mobi...
متن کاملOptimum Efficient Fast Handover Support for IPv6
---International Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed MIPv6 and HMIPv6 both mobility management solutions to support the IP mobility. Although HMIPv6 is an extension of MIPv6 still there is handover latency and packet loss in HMIPv6.In this paper a scheme is presented that supports a fast handover efficiently in hierarchical mobile IPv6 networks (HMIPv6). In HMIPv6 when a mobile node (MN) mov...
متن کاملAn Approach to Reliable and Efficient Routing Scheme for TCP Performance Enhancement in Mobile IPv6 Networks
In Mobile IPv6, the handover process reveals numerous problems manifested by movement detection, non-optimized time sequencing of handover procedures, latency in configuring a new care of address and binding update to a home agent (HA). These problems may cause packet loss as well as packet disruption. To mitigate such effects, Fast handover for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6) has been developed. FMIPv6 c...
متن کاملSmart Buffering for seamless handover in Proxy Mobile IPv6
ProxyMobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is proposed as a new network-based mobility protocol and it does not require MN’s involving in mobility management. MN can handover relatively faster in PMIPv6 than in Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) because it actively uses link-layer attachment information and reduces themovement detection time, and eliminates duplicate address detection procedure. However, the current PMIPv6 ca...
